What inspired you to pursue a leadership role in the beauty and cosmetics industry?
“ It’s in my DNA! My father founded Qosmedix over 35 years ago, and after spending a decade on the brand side of the beauty industry, I found my way back to the family business. I started in marketing, worked my way up, and eventually took on the role of President. The beauty industry’s creativity has always drawn me in, and I love being part of.”
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to women looking to break into leadership roles?
“ Always keep learning. Understand the ins and outs of your business, focus on adding value, and don’t be afraid to showcase your strategic thinking. The more you position yourself as a problem-solver and decision-maker, the more opportunities will open up.”
What does being a woman in business mean to you?
“ For me, it’s about leading by example—not just in the workplace, but at home, too. I hope my daughter sees that you can have a fulfilling career and be a great mom. It’s not always easy to balance, but being financially independent and passionate about what I do makes it all worth it.”
How do you see the beauty industry evolving for women in leadership?
“ Fortunately, the beauty industry already has a strong presence of female leaders, and I see that only continuing to grow. The opportunities are endless, and women are making a tremendous impact at every level.”
Who is a woman who has inspired you in your career?
“ I’ve been lucky to have strong women in my family as role models. When my father was struggling with the financial side of the business in its early days, my mother called in reinforcements—her parents. My grandfather, a retired CPA, and my grandmother, a dedicated bookkeeper, stepped in and worked for our company well into their 90s! My grandmother, Irene, was so hardworking that if I stopped by her office, she’d barely look up before shooing me away so she could get back to business. And of course, my mother, Janis, who left her career as a teacher to help my father run the company. Their work ethic and dedication continue to inspire me every day.”
